Gamal Fouad

As a writer and visual artist, Gamal Fouad’s stories question what it means to do creative work. In his novels, a man is offered a prestigious teaching position at a writing school but has never published anything of note. A young artist contemplates a past life that he has left behind. You’ll find Gamal wandering the city streets, sketching, making notes; reading graffiti and staring into space while he waits for traffic lights to change. As part of the collective Felix & Mumford, Gamal created a series of maps about the process of gentrification, narrating locations such as Rosa Luxemburg Platz in Berlin through text and paintings.
