Lee Friedlander

Lee Friedlander is one of the most influential American photographers, and a pioneering figure of documentary reportage. His poignant images convey the chaos of city life and dense urban landscapes through detached images of modernity. Posters, street signs, and store-front reflections are recurrent elements. In the steps of Jack Kerouac, Friedlander discovered the social landscape of America on a road trip. Recognized also for a group of self-portraits he began in the 60s, Friedlander made the famous black and white nude photographs of Madonna in the early eighties.
